GetAtMe Some folks need to focus more on 'INDUSTRY ENS' than 'INDUSTRY FRIENDS'...

There’s nothing wrong with networking but remember at the end of the day this is the music business and for the folks in it as a business, they are trying to get money and when money get in something it is natural for things to become competitive.

Some folks are so busy meeting and networking (looking for a short cut to fame… #ThatsExpensive) that they seem to forget that this is a competitive business where most folk’s main agenda is to protect their pockets and power. The foundation of that pocket protection and power is money and sometime when folks give you their opinion it’s based on their opinion, experience and motivation to maintain their power (and image).

Look the music business is simple, get someone to buy online $1.29 or get them to buy a cd. Really it’s that simple. If they want it, they’ll buy it. All the promotions and networking in the world won’t make fans buy a song that they already weren’t interested in through word of mouth in the streets. Yeah certain dj’s are tastemakers but the best tastemaker is one of your loyal fans bigging you up and your product.

Everytime I hear the statement “its all about the money’ from one of these industry folks, it usually about the money in your pockets (be mindful of that...). Nothing is wrong with them eating (let me be clear) what’s wrong is that folks sometime put these industry friend in front of developing their real fanbase in hope of borrowing the industry friend’s fanbase and juice. Then in the aftermath will cry later on about the ticket price (I did say it was expensive…). Look if your fans won’t buy you for a $1.29 does it really matter who you’re cool with (#ThinkAboutThat)? That means you need to 1. Get hotter music (based on the fans and markets opinion) and 2. Get better ‘INDUSTRY FANS’ as opposed to ‘INDUSTRY FRIENDS’. Industry fans are the real path to industry ‘ENS’ (#FRFR).
